These are not difficult to make and can be easily mass produced using the different shapes of the Home Spun die set.
I first die cut magnet sheets, which you can purchase at any office supplies store. Or even better, you can upcycle the magnets you receive in the mail along with your junk mail, if you live in places where these are regularly sent to you. The magnet sheets die cut like butter in the Spellbinders™ Grand Calibur® machine! It took no effort at all. If you have no access to magnet sheets, you can use any magnet as long
as it's smaller than the die cut. Simply attach it to the back of the die cut
cardstock or patterned papers. I then die cut patterned papers that I used to cover the magnet. This is the perfect way to use scraps of papers you have laying around your work desk.
If your magnet sheet is not thick enough, you can die cut heavy card stock to make your magnets sturdier, like I did here.
I adhered together all die cut layers (magnet sheet, cardstock and patterned papers), including the basket liner.
I embellished my assembled magnets with different elements, such as twine, bling and felt flowers, which were also die cut using the Home Spun dies.
The sentiments are from The Craft's Meow's Simply Delightful stamp set. The papers are by October Afternoon.
As you can see, it was not hard to make these at all. And I just love the results. Because the magnets were adhered using repositionable tape, it can be easily peeled off the card and placed on the refrigerator door. How about you? Do you make gifts to give away?
Speaking of gift giving, I made these ornaments using my other licensed design, Sweet Folk Art S5-141 dies. I die cut wool felt and stitched most of the cut pieces on them. If you prefer not to sew, any fabric glue or hot glue gun would work as well. These would be so fun to make, even with your kids. And what a special gift to give away when the whole family took part in the process!

Oh my goodness, you really used these dies to perfection here hun, I absolutely love your small magnets and feltgifts. Such an awesome idea, but I would really like to know, where you get the magnetsheets from, that is actually strong enough to hold the layers too? I live in Denmark and have made loads of these things, but can´t find any magnets, except from very thick and heavy ones, that canpull the weight too, and then they just don´t look this nice, if you have to use such big and heavy magnetrtbuttons behind.
ReplyDeleteI love your beautiful work, soooooo awesome hun.

ReplyDeleteLove your folk art style! Thanks for sharing your ingenious idea for the magnet cards, what a special touch to brighten someone's day!
ReplyDeleteThe basket, pie and pitcher are just marvelous. One of the best places for people stateside to get magnets is to go to Lowes Home Improvment stores and go to the isle where they have vents for central air. They sell magnetic sheet covers - 4 to a pack for just a little bit of $$$. I use these sheets for storing my Spellbinders dies in emply DVD cases.

It was cute how you use the 4 different dies the basket, pie, jar and the pitcher and made them into magnets then you added them to the card. Very creativited. On your second project using the Sweet Folk Art to make cute christmas ornaments for the tree. Was very cute and seem very easy to do both of your project. Thank you for sharing your creativity with the new Spellbinder dies and embossing.
