May 2013 NinaB Designs Blog Hop: Make It Masculine

Welcome to the NinaB Designs Blog Hop! The theme of this month's hop is Make it Masculine. Father's day is just around the corner. It's a great opportunity to honor those men who mean so much to us. I have two cards for you today. One that is more involved, in the Mixed Media-inspired style I've been loving lately. The other is clean and simple.

For my first card, I did an emboss resist technique for the background using Penny Black's Puzzle Parts, Music Background and Breezy. The horse and sentiment are from The Craft's Meow's Giddy Up. This set coordinates with Spellbinders' Grommet Tag dies, which I used to cut the sentiment frame. I used various Memento inks to sponge the background. I added little flags of patterned papers from Oct Afternoon for added interest.

My second card is clean and simple using PB Treemendous set. The reds ended up looking more pink, but who says you can't use pink on a masculine card? :) I stamped the tree heads on vellum. I mounted them with foam dots. I placed buttons to conceal them. The sentiment is from The Craft's Meow's Mother and Father set. I accented it with some Want2Scrap Chevron bling.

NinaB Designs April 2013 Blog Hop, Giveaway and Winner!

Welcome to the NinaB Designs Blog Hop! The theme of this month's hop is Stamping Techniques. I challenged the team to do a technique, which could be as simple as coloring, die-cutting or more involved like emboss resist, making your own embellishments, etc.

I have two cards for you today. The first one uses a few techniques: fussy cutting, Copic coloring on the flower (Penny Black's Dahlias set), die cutting, embossing and stenciling the jar (Spellbinders' Homespun dies). I also made a background and tag for my sentiments using stamps from Penny Black's Embellishments set.
Apr-13-Card-2b
The sentiment is from PB's Treemendous set. The paper strip is from PB's Madison. A little bit of twine and button on the jar finish the card.

Changes to the NinaB Designs Team!

Hello, dear friends. As you know, I have been so fortunate to have a group of talented ladies who help promote my designs on our (somewhat) monthly blog hop. I still pinch myself for having such a fantastic group that supports me in my design endeavors and makes my designs shine! I don't believe you can find a better team out there than these dear friends who have joined me in my creative journey.

I'm sad to say that we will be saying goodbye to two of these ladies, Julie Overby and Beatriz Jennings. They have been an invaluable part of our team this past year. Their unique style and jaw-dropping creations have been a source of inspiration to me and I'm sure for you all. So, Julie and Beatriz, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for gracing our group with your lovely work, for supporting me in my design work and for being patient with me as I fumbled my way through organizing a team! You will be missed, but I support your decision wholeheartedly to leave in order to spend more time pursuing "life" and all those wonderful blessings that are more important than our beloved hobby.

I want to introduce you now to two lovely ladies who will be joining our little NBD family. Not only are these ladies among the industries' best, but they have also become dear friends of mine in my short paper crafting career. They both design for many manufacturers, so I'm humbled to have them join me as well. I have had the privilege of meeting them both at CHA 2010. I'll share more about them in future posts, but first let me introduce you to the new team members.

When Rae Barthel and I first met, we immediately hit it off! She had her sweet mom with her and we talked non stop about another mutual love, Croatia. As you know, Croatia is my current home and Rae is Croatian by heritage...instant connection! I was just excited to meet THE Paper Crafts Magazine Gallery Idol winner of 2009! That is no small feat, my friends. And she is one of those truly sweet people who are down to earth, warm and makes you feel loved.
Here is one gorgeous card she made using some of my designs:
This next lady is another dear friend, Jessica Fick. We go a long way back. In fact, she was there when I first arrived in the amazing world of paper crafting! We have worked together for a few companies, including currently The Craft's Meow. I have learned from her as a designer and have shared life experiences with her as a friend. You know the kind that either makes you miserable or a better person. She has been a source of encouragement and support and for that I will always be thankful to her.
Here's a beautiful card she made using one of my TCM stamps.
So, am I blessed or what? Please join me in welcoming them to the team. In honor of their joining the team, let's have a giveaway, shall we? Just leave me a comment below and I'll pick a random winner on Monday, when we have the NinaB Designs April blog hop. I hope you can join us! Until then, have a great weekend!

NinaB Designs Blog Hop: Make It Mini

Welcome to the NinaB Designs Blog Hop! The theme of this month's hop is Make it Mini, in honor of February's being a short month. I challenged the team to create a project that is either small (mini-cards, mini-boxes, etc.) and/or intended for someone small (babies, kids, even pets :).

I have three cards for you today. My first card is for a little girl. It's perfect for my three at home :). The house was stamped with TCM's Love Dwells Here set and die cut using Spellbinders Home Sweet Home. The papers are Authentique's Lovely collection.
NBD-1
How do you like that trendy Polaroid frame? I made that using Spellbinders Classic Square dies (tutorial HERE). The sentiment is from TCM's Vintage Rides. The frame is embellished with my Want2Scrap Chevron border bling. The sparkly heart and silver strip are also by Want2Scrap.

My 2nd and 3rd projects are mini cards that you can tuck inside your kids' lunches or send with a gift. The papers are Penny Black Madison. The butterfly and sentiment with it are from PB Free Flight. The fun card on the right uses TCM's Fun{tache}tic. Notice I used one of the mustaches for eyebrows.
NBD2
Here you see again the mini-Polaroid frame I made using Spellbinders dies and Madison papers. A little of twine, button and Want2Scrap pearls finish the card.

NinaB Designs Jan 2013 Blog Hop

Welcome to the NinaB Designs* first team blog hop of 2013! We hope you have had a relaxing holiday break and ready to join us for another year of inspirations and prizes!
*NinaB Designs is a product designer for a few paper crafting companies including Spellbinders, Want2Scrap and Penny Black, and The Craft's Meow.

For this month's hop, I challenged the team to create a project with the LOVE theme, which can be interpreted in many ways: Valentine, Anniversary and Friendship. I made two cards for you. The first one uses Penny Black's Sent with Love stamp set. I did the emboss resist on this card with some Copic coloring on the flowers. I first heat embossed with white powder, colored the flower and blended different Distress inks to expose the white background.
PB-Love
I distressed the edges and stitched to a cream cardstock. Some lace, seam binding, buttons and flowers finish this simple shabby card.
PB-Love-det
For my second card, I went the fun route and made a patterned paper-filled card. I love patterns, don't you? I esp love this collection from October Afternoon. I use my TCM's Beautiful Shelf set on this one. I paper pieced the shelf/cabinet and colored the vase of flowers.
TCM-Love
The sentiment is from Just Sayin' and placed over trendy banners. Some red twine is all it needs.
TCM-Love-det
Here are the products I used for my cards: TCM's Beautiful Shelf, Just Sayin' and Penny Black's Sent with Love, respectively.

NinaB Designs November Blog Hop

Welcome to the monthly NinaB Designs team blog hop. NinaB Designs is a product designer for a few paper crafting companies, including Spellbinders, Want2ScrapPenny Black, and The Craft's Meow. For this month's hop, I challenged the team to create something with Winter and Holidays in mind.

The holidays provide many opportunities for paper crafters to give an extra personal touch to every occasion.  Whether you are doing place cards for a dinner, tags for gift giving or even just hand made projects using your supplies on hand, it is a blessed season indeed!

I used a lot of scrap papers for my projects today. That is one advantage of using dies.:) My first card uses my Sweet Folk Art dies with Simple Stories and My Mind's Eye papers.
Angel
I used felt for the hair/halo and the heart.Using my white pen, I connected the holes on the wings to make them look stitched. All the dies in this set have the holes for a quilted/stitched look. The sentiment is TCM's Season's Greetings.
Angel-det
My second card is a winter scene using my Home Sweet Home and Sweet Folk Art dies (heart banner). Again these were die cut using My Mind's Eye scraps. I hand cut the snow drift.
All-is-Calm
The background snowflake is Madison Paper pack by Penny Black. The sentimet is from All is Bright stamp set, also by Penny Black.
All-is-Calm-det
Here are the products I used for my project:
S5-141 Sweet Folk Art
To welcome you back to our blog hop, we are giving away PRIZE PACKAGES so be sure to hop along!  Prize Package #1 includes Spellbinders Holly Accents and Classic Petal dies:
Prize Package #2: Retired Layers of Colors stamps, Vintage Postcard and Elegant Labels
Everybody is welcome to comment and eligible to win. I will announce the winners on  November 23 right here. Due to the number of prizes being given away on my blog and my dependence on my mom to do the shipping, I have to ask that the winners email (via Contact tab above) me with their info within 4 days (till Nov 27) in order to claim the  prize. This will help with organization and avoiding confusion. Thanks for understanding!
Winners will be picked randomly from 2 of the designers' blogs:
