Sewing-inspired Happy Birthday

Hi, friends! Today's card is for The Craft's Meow's June Sketch Challenge. I had so much fun coming up with these sketches for TCM. There are so many fabulous sketches available online, so I wanted to do something a little different (at least for me).

Here is my card, using TCM's Sew Happy stamp set and Spellbinders' Sewing Elements dies.

The papers are Crate Paper's Pretty Party. The pin cusion was die cut and paper pieced.  I die cut Spellbinders' Romantic Rectangle for my tag. The colors were inspired by the Shabby Tea Room challenge this week (also include fabric elements, for which I used twill, lace and seam binding).

Card Patterns Sketch 113

Today's card is for this week's Card Patterns sketch. And our sponsor is one of my favorite stamp companies, Layers of Color Art Stamps. I used one of the prizes LOC is offering, Embroidered Butterfly, on my card. I colored it with Copics. The papers are Pink Paislee's Butterfly Garden.

Gift Bag for Baby

Today's project is something I had so much fun making. Even though this gift bag is a little shabby, I think it's still okay to give to a baby boy. It was made using GinaK's Lovely Labels stamp set, SRM Sticker's Baby Sentiments, Webster's Pages' Lullably Lane papers, and Spellbinders Labels Four dies.

This gift bag is for the following challenges: Moxie Fab's Gift Wrap Challenge, Shabby Tea Room (inspiration photo using doilies/lace), Simon Says Stamp (something for a child), Simon Says and Show (use distressing: on my labels).

Living Room Birthday

I had so much fun making this card. It's reminiscent of one of my favorite cards from 2009. The stamps are Hero Arts' Wish You Were Here. The sentiment is SRM Stickers We've Got Your Stickers Happy. The papers are just scraps I found on my desk. The cream "base board" is embossed but it's hard to see on the photo. I added some bling on the chandelier and on the bottom.

My version of grunge

Almost exactly a year ago was when I discovered who Tim Holtz was. Crazy, isn't it? Remember I'm in Croatia and up until lately, wasn't exposed to all the fabulous artists and products like my friends in North America are. :-) I have since purchased a few of Tim's products, but I never could get myself really into the distressed and grungy style as he does so well. I love vintage, but on the delicate side, using lace and ribbons.

Here are my own versions of the grungy style: I distressed the edges of the image panel and did an emboss resist technique using Tim's Distress Inks. This card uses Tami Mayberry's latest set, Live Life Loud and Oct Afternoon papers.

This card is the more typical distressing with Tim's inks. I didn't really like the end results (too messy? LOL), so I added the white dots and sponged red on the flowers to "femininize" my card. Of course, I had to add lace, ribbon and a flower. :-) The flowers and sentiments are from Hero Arts. The text background is from Layers of Color's The Love Chapter.

Shabby Butterfly Card

My card today is for a challenge I just found, The Shabby Tea Room. It's a great source of inspiration if you like the vintage shabby style like I do. The challenge this week is a photo inspiration of a quilt. I followed the color scheme and the squares on the patterned paper resemble a quilt.

I used Layers of Color's Flutterescent set. If you love vintage images, Layers of Color has the best around and they're beautifully hand drawn by the owner, Laura Campbell. They have an SNR Group where you can find lots of card samples and a generous discount code to the LOC store.

The text background is a download from The Graphics Fairy. The papers are Webster's Pages and the sentiment is SRM Express Yourself Mother's Day stickers.

I made the flower thingy. It's my 2nd attempt, but I think I will keep practicing because it allows me to use up ribbons I haven't used in awhile. I found a spool of old binding seams and that's what I used here. And guess what it matches one of my favorite cardstock colors, GinaK Designs Cranberry Tart.
