The Craft's Meow's May Blog Hop: Flowers

Welcome to The Craft's Meow's May Blog Hop. Our theme this month is Flowers. If you came from Lindsay's blog, then you're at the right spot. Please check the TCM blog for the complete list.

I used a few sets for my card today. First I created a background collage. If you follow me on Pinterest, you might have noticed that I've been inspired lately by mixed media which is gaining more popularity among cardmakers lately. This card was inspired by that art form. I stamped the hexagons (from Thanks Bee to Thee), I love you collage (Sent with Love), cancelled stamp (Telegram) with Versamark ink onto a white card stock. I then heat embossed it with white. I blended a few Distress inks to achieve the colorful background.

I stamped the stems (from Flower Garden) on a Want2Scrap tag. I fussy cut the stamped flowers (also from Flower Garden) and adhered them using foam dots. I distressed the edges of the tag, sentiment and background panel. The sentiment is from the Telegram set. I finished the card with a natural Twinery twine and Want2Scrap LeCreme pearls.

Paper Wishes Sorbet Artful Card Kit Cards

A couple of weeks ago, I received a very big box of surprise in the mail from a company called Paper Wishes. If that sounds unfamiliar, perhaps you've heard of Hot Off The Press, which is the wholesale arm of the company, while Paper Wishes is their direct-to-consumer online store. I believe the very first patterned papers I ever owned many years ago were made by them. My mom had a huge collection of their products. Paper Wishes sent me paper crafting supplies to play with and I've had so much fun. I will be sharing from time to time the projects I make with their lovely products.

For today's post, I used their Sorbet Artful Card Kit. It's available on the Paper Wishes website, (you can also purchase it on Amazon). At first glance, the collection didn't appeal to me. But I set myself down and made myself play with the different papers and die cuts in the collection. It didn't take long before inspiration hit and I made my first card, then the next...and had to stop at 8 with still half the kit left over!

With all the beautiful die cuts and coordinating papers in this kit, it wasn't hard at all to create the layered look without the bulk! With the inked edges, I even gave an illusion of yet another layer. It was so easy to create when the elements are already coordinated for you. Other supplies used are white card bases, Want2Scrap pearls, ribbons, twine, lace and TCM's Sent With Love for one of the sentiments. Here are the 8 cards I made. Most of these are considered CAS because it took no time to make. But look at the beautiful layered vintage look? I can't get enough of those flowers, too!

The Craft's Meow's Previews: Flower Garden

Hello, friends. The Craft's Meow team is showing our previews for this month's release! There's lots happening, including two new Guest Designers this month: Sharri Seffens and Annette Allen, who both have made some beautiful projects for you all this week. We also have a new Free set with $50 purchase that we'll show in a few days.

I have two sets being released (one goes with my Spellbinders' Licensed Design, Sewing Elements!). One is called Flower Garden and we're showcasing it today. It's a set that I've been wanting for a while now. As some of you know, as much as I love to color with my Copics, I don't always have the time to do so. That's when sets like Flower Garden come in handy. With several flowers, stems and leaves options, there are so many looks you can achieve with these images.

For my card today, I used the flowers as a background image. I stamped them directly on the patterned paper (by Melissa Frances).

I then added a sentiment from Sent with Love and a butterfly from Beautiful Spring set.

Crafty Friends' Challenge #1

I am so thrilled that my very talented and dear friend, Beate Johns, asked me to join her brand new challenge blog, Crafty Friends' Challenge, along with some of my favorite crafters! I am among a talented group, so I'd better step up my game :). Just look at these ladies I'll be "crafting" with:
Beate Johns
Charmaine Ikach
Heather Jensen
Jenn Balcer
Linda Lucas
This is going to be a kick back kind of challenge blog and LOTS of fun. It's bi-weekly, so you have 2 weeks to do the challenge. For our first one, the challenge is to create something VINTAGE! And I couldn't be happier! It's my favorite type of projects to make.

Here is my card. I used The Craft's Meow's Sew Lovely stamp set (dress form and sentiment).

I decided to make it a fairy dress form, so I added the butterfly wings (Spellbinders Wonderful Wings) and Want2Scrap has coordinating bling to go with them! I love paper piecing that dress. The papers are Crate Paper.

The little tag is from Spellbinders Home Sweet Home dies. The collage in the background is from TCM's Sent With Love set.

I hope you can join us in this new exciting challenge!
