A couple of challenge cards

Hi, friends! I've been hit with another cold/flu bug and was not online for a few days. I'm rarely sick and now I've been battling one thing after another. The upside is nobody else seems to have caught whatever it is that ails me. I hope it stays that way.

I have two cards for you today for two challenges. The first is for The Craft's Meow's December sketch challenge. I used Vintage Clock for this card and some leftover Simple Stories Summer Fresh papers.

Here is the sketch:
My next card is for the Crafty Friends' Challenge. Beate challenged us to create a CAS (clean and simple) card. This may not qualify as CAS with 3 layers, but it's simpler than my usual style :).

I used my Vintage Clock set again for this one (the clock in the background and the sentiment). The lovely die cut is Spellbinders Morrocan Motif die.

I hope you can play along with these two challenges. Before I go, please check out the Simon Says Stamps blog where they are featuring my cards. And there's a giveaway, too! Have a great week!

Crafty Friends Challenge #11

It's my turn to host the Crafty Friends Challenge and I have a photo color inspiration for you to today. I took this photo last summer in my in-laws' yard. I love the vibrant hues of that gorgeous butterfly.
The colors are perfect for the season of fall and the upcoming holidays, but the image can also inspire non-holiday projects, so there’s something here for everyone! Here is my card using Penny Black's Lace Delight stamp set as my background.

The butterfly is a die cut by Spellbinders that is anchored by a pretty paper flower.

I hope you can join us. We have one fantastic sponsor, Freckled Fawn, the maker of those oh-so trendy washi tapes. Have a great week!

CFC #10 Sentimental

Hello, friends! It's Crafty Friends Challenge again and this time, Linda, our hostess, challenged us to focus our project on words/sentiments.

I made this clean and simple card for you using my Penny Black Madison Paper pad. The seam binding and twine are by Ribbon Carousel.

The sentiment is Thickers by American Crafts. I'm entering this to the Moxie Fab Challenge.

Glitz and Glam Card

Today I have a very fancy card that took me longer than usual to make, but it was so much fun! I made this for this week's Crafty Friends Challenge. Jenn Balcer is our hostess and she challenged us to create something Glitz and Glam. How fabulous is that! :)

I stamped (Penny Black's Hanging Treasures set) and die cut the ornaments (Spellbinders' Heirloom Ornaments 2012). I fancied them up by adding Want2Scrap's Beautiful Bling Borders-Fancy That! It looked top heavy, so I balanced the layout by adding a row of W2S Sleek Strips Silver Rhinestones- Self Adhesive on the bottom. The papers are my Penny Black Madison pad.

Here's a closeup of the card. The sentiment is from W2S Chipboard Sentiments- Words of Love.
I covered it with wet glue, then sprinkled some Art Glitter on it. I "hung" the ornaments using twine and decorated them with paper flowers.

That is one sparkly card! I hope you can join us at the Crafty Friends Challenge this week!

Crafty Friends Challenge #8

If you are here for my WCMD post, please click HERE!

Today's card is for the Crafty Friends' Challenge #8. The lovely Charmaine is our host and she challenged us to use dry embossing on our cards. I used my Spellbinders M-Boss for this. I embossed both the white background and the little leaves.

The sentiment is from The Craft's Meow's Love Dwells Here stamp set, which coordinates with Spellbinders Home Sweet Home dies. The little fancy tag is also by Spellbinders. I also embossed the little leaves with SB M-Boss. The flower is from my stash.

Crafty Friends Challenge #7

Happy Sunday! I hope you're having a great day of rest. As a minister's wife, I usually have a busy Sunday. But it's a good kind of busy that involves worshiping with our church family in the morning and enjoying friends' company around the dinner table. It's also a time to catch up with College Football (thanks to ESPN's overseas services!) in the afternoon and some crafty time even. Life is good! :)

Today's card is for the Crafty Friends Challenge. Beate challenged the team to create a Halloween card. We don't celebrate it here, but I love the cute aspect of the holiday. And speaking of cute, I made this using Mabelle RO's Fall Fiby & Lilly set. I colored the adorable cat with Copics. I also used SRM Stickers We've Got Your Borders Halloween for the sentiment, banner and borders along the bottom.

And because we don't celebrate Halloween, I don't have any Halloween papers. So, I grabbed this old October Afternoon papers that have colors to match my banner sticker. I die cut the orange paper using my Spellbinders Edgeabilities Classic Scallop. Some gray twine holds the banner up.

I hope you can join us the next two weeks for the Crafty Friends Challenge and while there, you can check out the beautiful projects of the rest of the team. Have a great day!

Challenge Cards

Happy Sunday, friends! I hope you're having a relaxing day. I spent the morning worshiping with our church family, then sharing a great time around the dinner table with some friends.

I have two cards for you today for a couple of challenges.  First is for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge that The Craft's Meow is sponsoring. The challenge is to create a bright card with no neutrals. I tried really hard, but had to add the brown ink for the sentiment. I used Love Dwells Here, which coordinates with Spellbinders' Home Sweet Home dies for this card.
SSIC-Card
The papers are Authentique.Lively Collection. I highlighted the center sentiment with Want2Scrap Nestabling. The doily was die cut using Spellbinders Persian Motifs dies.

My second card is for the Crafty Friends Challenge. After a summer break, we are now back to the challenge. I am the hostess and it's a sketch challenge. Please go to the CFC blog for more info. Here is my take, which is an old card that I've shared previously.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Crafty Friends Challenge #5

I have a simple shabby card for you today for the Crafty Friends' Challenge to use flowers. This is my kind of challenge since I love incorporating flowers in my projects. I used The Craft's Meow's Flower Garden (flowers) and Fly Free (sentiment) stamp sets. I stamped directly on the patterned papers, which are by Pink Paislee.
CFC-cardb
The main embellishment on my card is this die cut felt flower using Spellbinders Bauble Blossoms dies. I glued it together using my new favorite fabric glue, FabriTac by Beacon Adhesives. I so wish I had discovered it sooner. That would have saved me some messy burns with my glue gun :). I added some Want2Scrap pearls with the sentiment and the Copic-colored one in the center of the flower. Speaking of Want2Scrap, they are having a 99 cent BLING SALE right now! It's time to stock up!
CFC-det
This card was very simple and easy to make. The collage papers make it look more layered! I hope you can play along with us with the Crafty Friends' Challenge. I'm also entering this card to the Moxie Fab's Doilies and Lace Challenge.
