Mixed Media Fall Flower Card

I have another fall-ish card for you today using water colors. I first stamped my Penny Black Noble stamp with Faber Castell PITT markers. It's my first time to use these markers and I love that I can place the color directly on the stamp.
Watercolored-PB-full
The background is watercolored. While that is still wet, I stamped the text from PB Love Chapter and let the ink soak in the extra moisture on the paper. When the paper dried, I stamped the sentiment from Sunny Hello with Versamark ink. I stamped the burlap background from the Textures stamp set and spritz it a little bit with water. The butterflies were cut using PB Tagged die set. The pearls are by Want2Scrap. The adhesives are by SA by 3L.

Challenges: Curtain Call (Wishing well inspiration), Just Us Girls (Photo inspiration), Crazy 4 Challenges (leaf); SSS Monday Challenge (finishing touch with the sentiment stamp), Muse (color scheme), Diecut Divas (Something new: stamping with PITT markers).

Watercolored Maple Thanks

We are certainly enjoying fall weather here. The chilly air, grape harvest and wood gathering are all around us that signal that autumn has arrived. I have a mixed media, water colored card for you today. I had so much fun making this.

I first hand sketched the big maple leaf and did the wet-on-wet technique using my kids' cheap watercolors. This is the first time I've done this technique and I'm a fan now.
Watercolor-Maple
I then added pseudo textures using various Penny Black stamps: Textures (burlap) and The Love Chapter (script text). The paper was distressed on the edges. With the stamped textures, distressed water color paper, the panel looks like it's a piece of cloth. The sentiment is die cut using Penny Black's Wishes dies.
Watercolor-Maple-det
Challenges: Die-Cut Divas (something new: wet-on-wet technique), Muse Challenge (Inspirations from the Muse card: my maple leaf substituted the circle, and the die cut sentiment), Cardabilities (sketch).

Have a great day!

CAS Mixed Media Card

I am really enjoying mixed media, but sometimes don't like the "messiness" and bulk. Today's card is what I call CAS Mixed Media. I used 3 different color media, but kept the card simple. I used a lot of Penny Black stamps on this card: Allegro, Social Butterfly, Floral Applique, Kind Words, Love Chapter, and Breezy.
Vintage-Cards5
I used Dye ink, Pigment Ink and Watercolors (the blue iris and splatters) on my card. I had a little piece of doily on my desk and added that (why not?) :). I then placed Want2Scrap pearls in strategic places to create balance.
Vintage-Cards5d
I'm entering this to the following challenges: Cardabilities (sketch), CASology (Garden), Muse, SSS Wed Challenge (CAS), The Pink Elephant (Watercolors). Have a great weekend, friends.

More Watercolored Penny Black

I have another card with a watercolored image for you. This time, I used Penny Black's Kisses in the Sun for the main image and Love Chapter for the sentiment. I didn't do intense colors this time, but more like a color wash for a more pastel look. I matched the butterfly color with the paper scrap on the bottom.
PB-I-love-you
I layered a stamped image from the Social Butterfly set on top of the collage. It's embellished with a strip of Want2Scrap rhinestones. I also added a strip of Want2Scrap Beautiful Blooms border along the bottom. Some lace and seam binding finish the card.

Mixed Media Birthday Card

Just a quick post for today. We are having bad weather here. The electricity and internet are off and on. However, I shouldn't complain. I'm sure you've heard of the recent typhoon that left Central Philippines in a devastated state. My heart aches for my people and my prayers are with them.

Seeing photos of the situation there really puts things in perspective. How many times have we been guilty of complaining on FB, our blogs, Twitter and other social media because of trivial things? I couldn't sleep last night as the wind howled and strong rains poured. But I was still enjoying the blessing of a warm house and clean bed, and my family are all safe and sound. So many Filipinos didn't have any of them the last few days. We have so much to be thankful for.

EDIT: If you would like to help with the relief efforts in the Philippines, I recommend doing it through Action International. I have friends who served with them. Action International provides relief through the local churches.

My card for today is something I shared on the Want2Scrap blog earlier. You can see the details HERE.

Feeling blessed and a trio of cards

Oh my poor neglected blog. I have missed posting, but am still busy traveling and visiting friends, churches and family. It's been so wonderful seeing so many dear ones again after years of being away. What a gift from the Lord friendships are! There is a blessedness being a part of God's church that is truly unique to us. For those we knew before, there's no absence, or long distance that could diminish our friendships. For those we just met, there seems an instant connection that overcomes cultural and language barriers. And of course it is because of our mutual love for Christ that makes all these possible. I feel truly blessed!

Now onto my card...I have some mixed-media inspired cards for you today that were posted earlier on the Want2Scrap blog

Here is a close up of one. I had fun making these tags! The white text is from Penny Black’s Love Chapter. The sentiments are by Penny Black's Dahlias set.

It's a Farewell Post today on the SRM Stickers blog as I conclude my official SRM Interim DT today, along with some of my favorite paper crafts. It isn't really goodbye since I will continue to use my lovely stickers, twine and cute packaging that SRM offers. I just love SRM Stickers, and not just because of their products, but I have come to love the people behind the company. I am thankful to call them friends.

I made a trio of tags for today's post. For the background, I did the emboss resist using several Penny Black stamps: Love Chapter, Puzzle Parts, Inspiring, Breezy. I used Memento inks for the bright background. I used the following SRM Sticker products: Sticker Stitches, Birthday Border Stickers and Mandarin Twine. I also used Spellbinders' Classic Petal Edgeabilities to die cut the red borders.

Here's a close up of one tag. I colored the cute critters with Copics. I embellished my tags with buttons, ribbons and Want2Scrap pearls. Those white sticker stitches look beautiful with the red die cut border.

Sketchabilities Challenge with Want2Scrap

Thank you for the get well wishes, friends. I am recovering at home now, so it's a relief. I'm still trying to take it slow, but I'm expecting a group of 15 friends (only 5 are staying with us) tomorrow from America! I've done most of the work before the surgery, so just little touch ups here and there (so, don't worry, Mom).

Today's card is for my friend Karan's Sketchabilities challenge. The Want2Scrap team is joining in the fun today with our version of this sketch. And the prize is a $25 gift certificate to the Want2Scrap store! It's a scrapbook layout that I reinterpreted to make my card below.
I started by heat embossing the text from Penny Black's The Love Chapter set with white on a Manilla tag. I spritzed water on a few drops of Distress Ink refills on a waterproof surface. Then I dabbed the tag on the inks to absorb the smorgasbord of colors. I let it dry and embellished it. I adhered a delicate Want2Scrap Silhouette using SA by 3L Dodz;  the black makes it stand out from the colorful background. I carefully laid part of the Swirls Finesse - White Pearls - 2 Pack - Self Adhesive on the silhouette, then layered a vintage lace and a paper flower accented with Art Glitter on the petal edges.
W2S-Auth3
The papers Authentique's Strong, which again I used to make a feminine project with. The sentiment is from Penny Black's Dahlias, which is accented by Gesso-covered Card Size Antique Keys w/hardware - Chipboard . I adhere the tag to the card front using SAby3L's 3D Foam Squares. A doily, seam binding and Want2Scrap's Sleek Strips Pearls-White were added to the corners, bow and silhouette.

Sisters Wall Hanging

Today's project is not a card. Can you believe it? :) I made this for the  Authentique/Want2Scrap blog hop last week that I missed due to some health issues. I made a wall hanging for my girls' room. The Authentique Paper Collection I used is called Strong which is meant to be masculine. But as you can see, it works just as well for girls if you add enough feminine flair. And that's where the Want2Scrap embellishments come in.

I used the following Want2Scrap products:
I also used the following supplies:
  • Penny Black Love Chapter (LOVE and text background)
  • PB Sparklers
  • PB Music Background
  • Spellbinders butterfly die
  • Twinery
  • Gesso (painted over the background patterned paper)
Sisters-Wall-Hanging-Front
I highlighted the title with strips of little pearls. the blocks and the chipboard base were inked on the edges.
Sisters-Wall-Hanging-Title
I love this swirly pearl bling, together with pleated lace.
Sisters-Wall-Hanging-Swirl
Tags stamped with Penny Black stamps and adorned with twine.

More stamped images and a butterfly die cut.

And here is the project in full. I loved making it and, more importantly, my girls love it!

A Mixed Media Card and a Purse

I have two projects for you today that were shown previously in the SRM Stickers blog. But before that, have you seen the new Penny Black release? One of mine is being featured today on their blog.

First up is a mixed media card. I've been inspired lately by fellow paper crafters, Jill Foster and Michelle Wooderson, who make mixed media worth the try. Symmetry-obsessed and neat freak (when it comes to papercrafting, at least) that I am, I used to be afraid of mixed media stuff. As you have noticed lately, I am loving it! I still have much to learn but am enjoying the process.

Many people have asked how I make these mixed media cards.I first do an emboss resist (Youtube has tons of tutorials HERE) on the background using Versamark ink and white embossing powder. Then I spritz with Goosebumps for the random dots you see. Then I go crazy with whatever ink colors I want to use, usually Distress inks or Memento inks.

For my background I used Penny Black's Breezy, Love Chapter and Music Background stamps (my favorite 3 lately for backgrounds). The poppy is from PB Blooming Garden. The sentiment and stitches are SRM stickers.
SRM-W2S-PB-card
The poppies were colored watercolor-style using Copic markers. I added the white dots for effects using white paint and a toothpick. I didn't adhere the elements flat for a more interesting effect as you can see below. I finished the card with Want2Scrap heart and pearl strips.
SRM-W2S-PB-card-det
My second card features one of the new packagings that SRM Stickers now offers. Isn't this purse darling? My girls love it as I do! I used it to package a scarf. I left out the ends to tie in a bow as part of the box decoration. You can find more details HERE.
SRM-New-Prod-Bag
I used Spellbinders circle and Lacey Circle dies to highlight the SRM Label.

A little update on my health since some of you have asked...it looks like I will have surgery in the middle of June. I hope this will be the end of my gallbladder issues and can get back to normal quickly. Thank you for your prayers and notes of concern! You truly know how to make this gal feel loved. :)

OWH Memorial Day Weekend Blog Hop

Hello, friends! First of all, thank you for all your sweet comments and email regarding my recent health ordeal. I appreciate all your prayers and encouragement! Though I have slowed down a lot with designing due to my lingering pain, I couldn't back down from this worthwhile hop.
I am honored to participate in this year's Operation Write Home's Memorial Day Weekend Hop. If you're a frequent follower of my blog, then you'd know that I recently lost my grandfather who was a WW2 veteran and a Bataan Death March Survivor. You can read his incredible story HERE. I thank God for sparing his life during the war and as a result, my grandfather eagerly sought the truth and found it in the Bible. He introduced it to me and I am now a missionary overseas, a living testament of God's work in his life, for which I will be forever grateful. And it is my privilege to honor him and the many men and women who sacrificed so much to ensure our freedom.

For today's hop, I followed sketch #139 to create this masculine thank you card. I created a white embossed collage background using Penny Black's Breezy, Love Chapter and Music Background stamps. I then spritz it with some Tsukineko Goosebumps and blended various Distress inks. The vintage car is from Penny Black's Hot Rod set.
Owh-card
Here is a close up of the background, which was die cut using Spellbinders Labels 8. I embellished it with Want2Scrap pearls, May Arts ribbon and a strip of October Afternoon papers.
Owh-card-det
As a gratitude for your visit, I am giving away the following to one random commenter below: Spellbinders' Venetian Accents dies, Spellbinders' Venetian Motifs dies, The Craft's Meow's Take the Cake stamp set, LOC Fairy Wishes (retired)

If you want another chance for a prize giveaway, you can check out the NinaB Designs Make It Masculine hop going on till Sunday evening. A set of Spellbinder dies and a Want2Scrap $20 gift certificate are up for grabs. I will announce the winners from both hops on Monday Tuesday. Happy hopping!

Hello Sunflower Card

I have another card today inspired by mixed media. I am really enjoying the process in making these cards. I usually don't do techniques, but am inspired to try new things. I created a Mixed Media-Inspired Pinterest board specifically for this type of cards as I see myself doing this more regularly.

For today's card, I made a collage background using Penny Black's Music Background, Love Chapter set and Flourishes Sunflowers.  I stamped them with Versamark ink and heat embossed with white. I then sponged various Memento inks (Cantaloupe, Rhubarb Stalk, Potter's Clay, Pear Tart and Rich Cocoa) on the embossed panel.
I
I water colored the sunflower using Memento inks as well. I colored the sentiment from Stitched Sentiments set with Copics to coordinate with the background colors. I adhered random Want2Scrap LeCreme pearls where I thought they were needed :)
Flourishes-sunflowerdet
As a final step, I sprayed Tsukineko's Goosebumps all over my card. This product was part of a prize package I won a while ago and I didn't know what to do with it, so it sat in a shelf. But let me tell you, I LOVE it! Instant texture that leaves a beautiful effect, don't you think?
Flourishes-sunflowerdet2
The colors were inspired by Flourishes's Colorful Creations Challenge. I'll be back with more mixed media-inspired cards. For now, I have to tend to my sick family. It seems we're taking turns with a nasty cold. Have a good one!

LOVE Cards

Hello, friends! I hope you are enjoying spring weather where you are. It seems to have missed us the last few days. We've received at least a foot of snow the last 48 hours and it's still snowing as I type this. My girls are on spring break. Before you feel bad for them...they would rather be at home when it's snowing than walking to school. I agree! :)

I have two cards for you today using one of my latest Penny Black stamps, Love Chapter. This set was one of my favorites from Layers of Color and it seems I'm not alone. I received so many inquiries about this set and am so glad to see it re-released. I used the big LOVE stamp and twill bow on both my cards.
PB-Love-Card
I also used my Spellbinder's Home Sweet Home dies (wings), which I die cut and embossed and used a stencil. The papers are Basic Grey True Love.
PB-Love-Card-det
My second card uses some scraps sitting on my desk. The papers are by My Little Shoebox.
PB-love
As you see, I put a brad, buttons, flowers and sprinkled Want2Scrap pearls to decorate my card. I curled one corner to add interest. This card took no more than 10 minutes to make.
PB-love-det
Have a great day!
