Thanksgiving Place Setting Ensemble

It's been awhile since I made something non-card and this was fun to create for SRM  Stickers blog's Paper of the Week Feature.

I used Bazzil Basics Cardstocks, SRM Stickers Quick Cards Thanksgiving, Sticker Sentiments Fall. Spellbinders Blossom 3, Foliage and Parisian Motif dies. Make sure you scroll down below for info about a giveaway.

This is the napkin ring. I cut 3 inches off the SRM Tube and decorated it with die cuts. I cut several sheets of varying shades of yellow Bazzill cardstocks with the blossom dies.

This is the remaining part of the tube as a party favor. You can fill this up with chocolate or other small gifts.

This is the side view of the tube.

And finally, the place card. The name was stamped.

Steadfast Love

I have a special post today from Layers of Color's Faith Art Friday. I just love this verse that is included in my Encouragement clear art stamp set. I did a little study on the Faithfulness of God that I hope you will be encouraged by. We live in a very insecure and sometimes scary world. That's why I find it comforting to know the wonderful truth that God is faithful.

Deuteronomy 7:9 says,

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations…

The frame is Victorian frame cling; the scrolls in the back are from Touch of Elegance and the moth is from Butterfly Collector. You can read the rest of the study on the Faithfulness of God on the LOC blog.

Don't Waste Your Life

This post is a not craft-related, but needs to be written. Thank you for letting me share my heart.

Steve Jobs, his life and death, has been in everybody's mind today, and surely for many days thereafter. He was a visionary and his life-changing creations have defined how we must live today. As a designer myself, I admire his passion for creativity, not just his heart for technology. Here's a link to his 2005 commencement address at Stanford University that is worth a read:

"Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure – these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart."

In light of not wasting your life, here's a quote from one of my favorite authors:

May I live every day with death in mind, not to be morbid, but so I will count every moment I have in this life (as a wife, mom, artist, friend, daughter, and the many roles God has blessed me with), for something bigger than myself. And that something is Jesus Christ.
